U11 White (posted Wed 2nd Jun 2010)
FOOTSCRAY Lions White U11s are celebrating after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Junior Red Valiants in the final of the Bob Stagg’s Memorial Shield.
They trailed 1-0 at the break but were back on terms in the second half when Mitchell Baker broke through before firing past the Junior Red keeper.
However, Footscray found themselves trailing again 10 minutes before the final whistle when Junior Red Valiants restored their lead.
Manager Lee Mills and coach Steve Allen decided to take a gamble and push four players up front but the equaliser came from an unlikely source two minutes from time when centre half Jardel Bundu-Kamara found the target.
The match looked certain to go to extra-time but Footscray midfielder Tommy Mills had other ideas when he picked up possession on the left.
His first-time cross picked out Baker, who flicked a shot over the keeper and into the net for his second goal of the game and 40th of a prolific season.

FCL - Tournament Success (posted Tue 1st Sep 2009)
The annual summer Festival of Football organised by Bexley junior football club Foots Cray Lions attracted more than 800 young players this year.
In front of over 1,500 spectators, youngsters aged from under 6 to 15, fought it out on the football field.
The event was held at Cleeve Park School, Bexley Lane, Sidcup, because the club, which has more than 320 members, currently has no home ground.
This is its sixth season away from its headquarters in Baugh Road, Foots Cray, after Bexley Council identified contamination problems with the ground.
This year the festival fielded 78 teams.
The under-6 sides played a round-robin and each player received a medal and a fair play trophy was presented to Valley Park Rangers.
Players from under-7 to under-14 played in a knockout competition.
The winners were: Under 7 - Langley Hawks (Bromley) under-8 - Holtwood Rangers (Maidstone); Under-9 - Langley Hawks (Bromley); Under-10 - Foot Cray Lions Yellow (Foots Cray); Under-11 - Teviot Rangers (Woolwich) . Under 12 - Kingfisher (Welling) ; Under 13 - Petts Wood JFC (Petts Wood) Under-14 Crayford Arrows (Crayford).

FCL Tournament Success (posted Sun 19th Jun 2005)
FOOTSCRAY LIONS U-11s
FINISH SEASON WITH SUCCESS IN ESSEX (19th June 2005)
Two U-11s teams from Foots Cray Lions had an early morning start on 19th June for the Little Thurrock Dynamos 6-a-side tournament in Essex. From previous years we expected a hard competiton and were not disappointed. Our “B” team faced a tough group with Grays Athletic’s Academy “B” and the hosts, Little Thurrock, and despite some good performances were unable to progress to the semi-finals.
For our “A” team, a 2-0 win followed by a 4-0 win set up a group decider against Grays Athletic Academy “A” who had won their games 6-0 and 3-0. Although Grays recorded a convincing 3-0 win, our “A” team still progressed to the semi-finals, as best runners-up across the three groups, to face Grays Athletic Academy “B”. A very tight game with good defensive performances and some excellent goalkeeping ended 0-0, and on to a penalty shoot-out. Two good saves from Bradley McNamara and some confident penalty taking produced a 3-2 win with one penalty to spare.
The final was a re-match against Grays Athletic Academy “A” and, when Grays took an early lead with a superb long range effort, a repeat score looked likely. But that goal only seemed to trigger a greater determination from our lads who fought their way back into the game and deservedly equalised just before half-time through Lionel Baguma. The second half was very evenly contested with Foots Cray coming nearest to winning when a header late on cannoned off of the crossbar. So another penalty shoot-out. With the score at 3-3 and one penalty each left, Bradley McNamara pulled off another excellent save. “We’ve won this” said Josh Acers, as he calmly strode from the centre circle to place the final penalty inside the top corner of the net to cheers that must have been heard all across Thurrock. Pictured above is the successful Foots Cray Lions “A” team.
I doubt that any team from Kent has received so much local support in a final against an Essex side. As we found out after, that was the first defeat suffered by Grays Athletic Academy “A” in an end of season tournament.
